Summary: Walking the Merri: From Source to confluence documents a seven-day performative walk undertaken by artist Rebecca Mayo and curator Lesley Harding in March 2013 as part of the artist's practice. The walk followed the length of the Merri Creek from its source at Heathcote Junction to its confluence with the Yarra River in Abbotsford, tracing the meanderings and human redirections of this historically significant and contested waterway and carrying the walkers through various landscapes--from large farms earmarked for development to the industrial outer suburbs before arriving at the Yarra via inner-city bike paths.
