Descriptive text on versos facing plates. A collection of all the drawings completed for Mackenzie's monograph of the Cariceae in v. 18 of North American flora, except four which were drawn by Creutzburg after Mackenzie's death. The drawings and a fund to cover the cost of their publication were bequeathed to the New York botanical garden; these volumes fulfil the terms of this bequest. The text follows closely that of North American flora. cf. Introd. "Edited by Harold William Rickett."
