PDF edition.

‘Plant of the Month’ provides a range of information, mostly in non-technical language, about a plant in the RBGVM. Each article is designed to be used as a resource by the volunteers (Voluntary Guides, Garden Ambassadors, Children’s Garden Volunteers) and staff members (education staff and horticultural staff) who interact with the public.

Plants are generally profiled at the time of year when they are flowering, fruiting, or at their most interesting stage. Information usually includes where plants are from, how they were found, how they were named, described, classified and used, and their economic or cultural significance. Also provided are details of related species, natural habitat, adaptation to environment, and any plant or animal interactions. Horticultural details are often given.
